Amherst Sweeps Concordia, 9-0

IRVINE, Calif. - The fourth-ranked Amherst women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 sweep Wednesday over Concordia University of Irvine.

With the win, Amherst is now 3-2 overall in dual-matches this season and 3-1 during the spring, while the Eagles dropped to 3-6.

Seniors Jordan Brewer and Gabby Devlin swept their opponents on the No. 1 court, 8-0. Jen Newman '14 and Zoe Pangalos '14 earned an 8-1 win from No. 2 doubles and Safi Aly '15 and Sarah Monteagudo '16 took an 8-3 win from the No. 3 spot.

Devlin and Newman dominated singles play as well, claiming 6-0, 6-0 wins from the No. 2 and No. 3 courts, respectively. After a 6-3 win in set one, Pangalos shut out set two to claim the win on the No. 5 court. Monteagudo played six singles and won easily with scores of 6-1, 6-0.

The Jeffs have a day off before returning to the courts Friday, Mar. 21 against CMS. The match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
