Women's Tennis Sweeps #14 Pomona, 9-0

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The second-ranked Amherst women's tennis team picked up another big win to close out its Spring Trip to California, handing #14 Pomona a 9-0 loss.

Jordan Brewer '14 (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Laura Danzig '12 (Allendale, N.Y.) kicked off doubles play with an 8-5 victory over Pomona's Jamie Solomon '13 and Kara Wang '13, while Zoe Pangalos '14 (New York, N.Y.) and Jennifer Newman '14 (Haverford, Pa.) scored an 8-3 win over Arthi Padmanabhan '14 and Jessica Hsu '13.

Gabby Devlin '14 (McLean, Va.) and Caroline Richman '13 (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) completed Amherst's doubles sweep with an 8-5 decision over Emily Kawahara '12 and Nicole Holsted '12, while Brewer headlined singles action by defeating Solomon, 6-1, 6-2.

Danzig kept things rolling for the Jeffs with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Padmanabhan at second singles, while Newman recovered from a first set loss to Hsu en route to a 4-6, 6-1, (10-3) triumph. Richman handled Holsted, 6-0, 6-2 in the fourth spot, while Safi Aly '15 (Edmond, OK) downed Kawahara, 6-1, 6-3.

Kimberly Snyder '12 (Newton, Mass.) held her own at the bottom of the Amherst order with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Kristin Brikmanis '14.

Amherst returns to action on Sunday, Apr. 1 at archrival Williams.
