Jeffs Open Season with 9-0 Win at Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, CT - The Amherst College women's tennis team opened its season with a 9-0 shutout victory at Wesleyan University on Wednesday. The Jeffs swept every match in both singles and doubles play, including a 6-0, 6-0 win by Amherst junior Katie Hudson (Los Altos, CA) over Wesleyan's Madalina Ursu at No. 4 singles.

Amherst dominated doubles play, surrendering just one game in the three matches, and didn't slow down in the singles bouts, needing only a pair of sets in all six tilts. The closest match of the day was a 6-0, 7-5 victory by Amherst senior tri-captain Hadley Miller (N. Canton, OH) over Wesleyan's Alexandra Sirois at No. 5.

Amherst returns to action Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. against local Division I opponent UMass-Amherst.
