Third-Ranked Jeffs Suffer 7-2 Loss at No. 2 Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, VA – The Amherst College women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the year to open its spring slate on Thursday, falling to 2006 Fab Five Tournament host Washington & Lee University, 7-2. Sophomore Alicia Menezes (Staten Island, NY) and senior tri-captain Hadley Miller (N. Canton, OH) were the lone Jeffs to secure wins as Amherst dropped to 4-1.

Menezes topped Ginny Wortham at No. 3 singles in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, while Miller needed three sets to take down Tori Christmas at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.

The Jeffs return to tournament play Friday, facing Carnegie Mellon at 11 a.m.
