Jeffs Rip Skidmore 7-2

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst women's tennis team won its second team-match in two days with a 7-2 victory over Skidmore College on Sunday. 

Senior Jamie Cohen (Rye, NY) continued her winning ways with number-one singles and doubles victories, defeating Amy Wachenhiem - who retired during the first set of a key singles matchup - and teaming with sophomore Paige Lawrence (Katy, TX) to down Wachenhiem and Heather Wood 8-5 in doubles. 

Lawrence also won her singles match against Skidmore's Heather Fuleihan 6-2, 6-0. 

Elsewhere in the draw, senior Carolyn Pastel (Old Lyme, CT) defeated Alexis Karetsky 6-2, 6-1; junior Heather Cole (Baltimore, MD) routed Dawn Penniston 6-1, 6-0; and first-year standout Wallis Molchen (Wilmington, DE) outlasted Karlene Kunigel, who retired after dropping the first set 6-0. 

Junior Stephanie Fong (Los Altos, CA) also teamed with Cole for an 8-4 doubles victory over Penniston and Karetsky. 

The Amherst women's tennis team returns to action on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at UMass-Amherst.
