HADLEY, Mass. – After winning six times over the weekend, senior Natalie Rumpelt '20 of Amherst women's swimming and diving was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Performer of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon.
Rumpelt lands her third career NESCAC weekly honor after a pair of standout performances against Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Springfield College.
Tallying two individual wins at MIT on Saturday, she was first to the wall in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.76 before tallying her second top-finish on the day in the 100 freestyle (52.61).
Anchoring the team's second-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, Rumpelt contributed a 51.82 split before bringing home the 200 medley relay with a 24.11 split (3:34.14).
On Sunday, the CSCAA All-American and two-time All-NESCAC selection led the Mammoths to a win over Springfield College with two individual and two relay top-finishes.
Rumpelt won the 50 backstroke (27.70) and the 100 freestyle (52.35). On the winning 200 medley relay, Rumpelt posted a split of 24.07 before leading off the winning 200 freestyle relay with a split of 24.86.
Amherst women's swimming and diving returns to the pool for the 2020 NESCAC Championship, hosted by Middlebury College, which commences on Thursday, Feb. 13.
