HADLEY, Mass. – Amherst swimming and diving Junior Natalie Rumpelt '20 nabbed the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Performer of the Week honor through her strong performance against Union College over the weekend, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Rumpelt posted three first-place finishes against Union College on Saturday. She opened the meet contributing a 28.53 backstroke split in the winning 200 medley relay as the Mammoths posted a time of 1:49.89 in event one.
Rumpelt notched a time of 1:53.00 in the 200 yard freestyle, claiming Amherst third consecutive win on the day. Rumpelt concluded her meet swimming the final leg of the first-place 800 freestyle relay with a split of 1:51.54, and smashing the Amherst pool record.
The previous pool record of 7:49.35 was set in 2009, untouched for roughly 10 years before Rumpelt, Livia Domenig '19, Bridgitte Kwong '19, and Dorit Song '19 set the new record with a time of 7:41.17.
Rumpelt acquired Co-Performer of the Week honors in her first-year, before receiving All-Conference nomination in her sophomore campaign.
Rumpelt is the third Mammoth on the season to be awarded this conference honor.
