Ruderman, Palermo Impress at NCAA Region 3 Diving Championships

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Jacqueline Palermo '19 and Lindsey Ruderman '21 of the Amherst College women's swimming & diving team both impressed this weekend as they represented the Mammoths at the 2018 NCAA Region 3 Diving Championships at the Middlebury Natatorium.

To qualify for the DIII Championships on March 21-24, a student-athlete must meet the qualifying standard at least twice during the qualification period or once at their conference championship meet on either diving board. Current qualifying marks on the 1-meter board include a 395 point total, while 410 points is the qualifying mark in the 3-meter event.

Ruderman recorded second and fifth place finishes at the Regionals, racking up 457.50 points on 11 dives to finish second overall in the 25-diver 3-meter event and totaling 421.35 points on the 1-meter board to take fifth. Ruderman's point total in the 3-meter was less than a point behind first place finisher Deborah Wen of MIT (458.25).

Also posting solid numbers, Palermo notched an 11th place finish on the 3-meter board on day one with 400.70 points, before earning 10th overall in the 1-meter with a 394.25 mark.
