SHENANDOAH, Texas – The Amherst College women's swimming & diving team concluded Day One action of the NCAA Championships at the CISD Natatorium with eight total points.
DAY ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Bridgitte Kwong '19 took home 19th overall in the 50-woman 200-yard IM, clocking a time of 2:05.83.
- In the 50-yard free, Ingrid Shu '20 posted a 33rd place finish in the 58-competitor race with a time of 23.92, while Stephanie Moriarty '18 finished 45th overall (24.16).
- The Purple & White's performance in the 200-yard medley relay proved to be Amherst's most successful event on the day, with the quartet of Stephanie Moriarty, Shu, Geralyn Lam '18 and Destin Groff '17 notching a time of 1:45.18 in the prelims to place 14th overall a earn a spot in the consolation finals. In the finals heat, three out of the four swimmers improved their individual times as Amherst touched the wall in 1:44.15 to secure 13th in the event and earn eight points towards their team score.
- Amherst continues NCAA Championship competition tomorrow, March 16, with event preliminaries slated to begin at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m.
