Hyde Highlights Day Two Action at NESCAC Championships

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – For the second consecutive season, Emily Hyde '16 of the Amherst College women's swimming and diving team set a pool and program record in the 100-yard breaststroke to claim the title at the NESCAC Championships Saturday, hosted by Wesleyan University.

The Jeffs have two wins after 17 events and remain fourth with 757 points after two days of competition. Williams claims the top spot with 1,406.5 points followed by Bates (1,010) and Middlebury (886.5) in second and third, respectively. Rounding out the top-five with 708.5 points is Bowdoin.

Hyde broke the 100 breast program record, which she set a year ago, with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:02.56. Classmate Hannah Hummel finished shortly after and took sixth overall to contribute in the Jeffs' scoring as she touched the wall in 1:05.54.

A day after claiming the 50 fly title with a pool and program record, Sarah Conklin '16 set another Amherst record Saturday and took second-place in the 100 fly as she swam in a NCAA 'B' cut mark of 55.23. She finished shortly ahead of first-year Geralyn Lam who took eighth overall with a time of 57.73.
