SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Amherst College women's swimming & diving team posted a 162-132 victory over Springfield College on Sunday in Springfield, Mass.
With the win, Amherst improves to 4-3 on the season.
The Amherst "A" relay squad of Stephanie Moriarty '18, Victoria Chao '18, Sarah Conklin '16, and Ashleigh Stoddart '15 placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.40, while the "B" tandem of Aline Kim '15, Hannah Hummel '16, Amelia Deady '18, and Daniella Cruz '18 placed third with a time of 1:58.06.
Emily Hyde '16 and Geralyn Lam '18 took first and second honors in the 200-yard individual medley with respective times of 2:12.99 and 2:13.17, while Charlotte Chudy '16 (2:03.07) and Marie Maxwell '18 (2:04.11) finished second and third in the 200-yard freestyle.
Sabrina Lee '15, Moriarty and Kim placed first, second and third in the 50-yard backstroke with respective times of 28.43, 28.98 and 29.81. Chao and Hummel then placed second and third in the 50-yard breaststroke (32.10 and 32.60), while Conklin and Lam finished first and second in the 100-yard butterfly with times of 59.38 and 59.83.
Stoddart and Deady clocked first and third times of 25.38 and 26.70 in the 50-yard freestyle, while the same duo placed second and third in the 100-yard freestyle with times of 56.48 and 57.39.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Moriarty and Lee registered first and second place honors with times of 1:00.91 and 1:02.18, while Hyde and Hummel secured first and third in the 100-yard breaststroke with respective marks of 1:07.57 and 1:10.01.
Maxwell and Chudy clocked first and second place times of 5:19.70 and 5:20.18 in the 500-yard freestyle, while Conklin and Lam tabbed first and second finishes in the 50-yard butterfly (27.03 and 27.17).
Hyde and Lee wrapped up the individual events with first and third place finishes (1:01.56 and 1:03.61).
The 200-yard freestyle "A" relay combination of Stoddart, Conklin, Lam and Lee glided to top honors (1:42.33), while the "C" squad of Moriarty, Maxwell, Destin Groff '17 and Cruz powered to a third place time of 1:45.38.
Amherst is back in action on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 13-15 at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Wesleyan.
