MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Emily Hyde '16 won three individual events for Amherst, but Middlebury was able to stake a 158-130 victory over the Jeffs in Saturday afternoon's women's swimming and diving contest in Middlebury, Vt.

With the loss, Amherst moves to 3-1 on the season in dual meet action.

Hyde continued to excel, gliding to first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:57.84), the 200-yard breaststroke (2:25.18), and the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.11).

Three other swimmers added a pair of individual victories in the loss for Amherst. Sarah Conklin '16 touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:10.20, and won the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 57.31. First-year Marie Maxwell won the distance freestyle events, claiming top honors in the 1000-yard (10:54.65) and 500-yard (5:20.04) swims. Classmate Moriarty tabbed victories in two backstroke events, winning the 100-yard event in a time of 1:00.50, and the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:09.07.

Geralyn Lam '18 contributed a pair of second place finishes for the Purple & White, notching times of 2:10.51 in the 200-yard backstroke, and a mark of 2:11.75 in the 200-yard individual medley, to help Amherst finish first and second in each event.

The 200-yard medley relay squad of Moriarty, Hyde, Conklin and Sabrina Lee '15 clocked a time of 1:48.85 to finish second in the event; while the combination of Lee, Maxwell, Moriarty and Conklin glided to a second place time of 3:41.28 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

Amherst is back in action on Saturday, January 10 at archrival Williams at 1 p.m.
