    Amherst College won three of the nine events on day one of the 2011 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, landing in second place with 571.50 team points. Competition will resume Saturday at Williams College’s Muir-Samuelson Pool, with preliminary rounds beginning at 10 a.m. and finals kicking off at 5:50 p.m.

The Lord Jeff women (2-0) won 11 of 13 events for a 136-98 result, while the Amherst men (2-0) swept all 13 for a final score of 122-79.

The regular season featured only one loss, as the Class of 2010 brought its career record in dual meets to an impressive 30-2. Amherst finished as the runner-up at the NESCAC Championships for the fifth time in nine years, with four Lord Jeffs combining to win seven events at the conference meet.
