  • NESCAC Women's Championship to Begin Friday at Middlebury

    The Amherst College women’s swimming and diving team will be in search of its first conference title when the Lord Jeffs head to Middlebury College for this weekend’s NESCAC Championship. The three-day event will begin Friday, Feb. 19, at the Middlebury Natatorium.
  • Kendra Stern '11 Earns Prestigious Academic All-America Honors

    Amherst College's Kirsten Dier '10, Kendra Stern '11 and Brittany Berckes '10 were named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Women’s At-Large Team, CoSIDA announced today. Of this year’s 45 College Division honorees, only the three Lord Jeffs hail from the NESCAC.

    Ryan Lichtenfels ’12 (McLean, VA) swam one of the most dominant races in program history and Kendra Stern ’11 (Albuquerque, NM) broke her own national record in the 100-yard freestyle to highlight Amherst College’s performances in the fourth and final day of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships.
  • Jeffs Propelled by 800 Freestyle Relays on Day Three of Championships

    The Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each used a solid performance in the 800-yard freestyle relay to remain in the running for a top-10 finish at the 2010 NCAA Division III Championships. The Lord Jeffs will close out their season Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

    Kendra Stern ’11 (Albuquerque, NM) shattered her own national record in the 200-yard freestyle and Alex Fraser ’11 (Willowbrook, IL) claimed his second national title in as many days to lead Amherst College in day two of the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Competition will resume Friday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
  • Fraser Wins 500 Freestyle to Lead Amherst on Day One of Nationals

    Junior Alex Fraser (Willowbrook, IL) won his second consecutive national title in the 500-yard freestyle to highlight Amherst College’s performances in day one of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships. The Lord Jeffs will continue their week at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Thursday, Mar. 18.
  • Amherst Sending 13 Swimmers to NCAA Championships

    Amherst College will send 13 student-athletes to Minneapolis for this weekend’s NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day event—hosted by Beloit College and The College of Wooster—will begin Wednesday, Mar. 17, at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.

    Twelve Amherst College student-athletes combined for 33 All-NESCAC honors when the 2009-10 Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Conference Team was announced today. The top three finishers in each event at the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship received All-Conference recognition.

    Four Amherst College swimmers combined to win seven events during the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, leading the Lord Jeffs to a runner-up finish for the fifth time in nine years. Kendra Stern ’11 was named Swimmer of the Meet for setting meet and pool records with NCAA “A” times in the 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle races.

    Amherst College junior Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) successfully defended her title in the 200-yard freestyle to help the Lord Jeffs hang on to second place after day two of the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship. Competition will conclude Sunday, with preliminary rounds beginning at 10 a.m. and finals taking place at 5:30 p.m. at the Middlebury College Natatorium.

    Amherst College won three of the nine events on day one of the 2010 NESCAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, landing in second place with 518.5 team points. Competition will resume Saturday, with preliminary rounds beginning at 10 a.m. and finals kicking off at 5:50 p.m.

  • Jeffs Wrap up Dual Meet Season with Wins Over Springfield

    The Amherst College swimming and diving teams closed out their dual meet seasons with convincing wins over Springfield College Saturday afternoon at Pratt Pool. The Lord Jeff women (7-1) won 15 of the 16 events for a 177-109 victory, while the men (6-2) won each of the 14 swimming events for a 159-131 result.

    For the second time this season, Amherst College junior Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) has been named Division III’s Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week. This week’s honorees were selected by coaches and media personnel for their performances from Jan. 25-31.
  • Lord Jeffs Come Away with Mixed Results at MIT

    The Amherst College swimming and diving teams came away with mixed results in dual meet action at MIT, with the Lord Jeff women (6-1) earning a 159-139 victory and the men (5-2) suffering a 174-124 loss to the Engineers. The Amherst teams will wrap up the dual meet season Saturday, Feb. 6, when they host Springfield College at 1 p.m.
  • Jeffs Return to Action with Wins at Hamilton

    The Amherst College swimming and diving teams returned from their spring training trips by picking up a pair of wins at Hamilton College. The Lord Jeff women (5-1) cruised to a 207-85 victory over the Continentals by taking 14 of the 16 events, while the Amherst men (5-1) won 10 events en route to a 160-130 result.

    The Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each improved to 4-0 with a dominating performance at Union College. The Lord Jeff men cruised to a 151-70 victory by sweeping the swimming events, while the women earned a 157-82 victory and won 11 of 13 events.
  • Lord Jeffs Pick up Impressive Wins over Middlebury

    The Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams each improved to 3-0 with convincing wins over Middlebury College in the 2009-10 home opener for both Lord Jeff squads. Amherst came out on top by scores of 198-90 (men) and 188-108 (women), with each side winning 13 of the day’s 16 events.
  • Jeffs Earn Pair of Hard-Fought Wins at Wesleyan

    Just two days after cruising to lopsided victories at Colby College in the 2009-10 season opener, the Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were put to the test in a dual meet at Wesleyan University. The Lord Jeff men won eight of their 13 events en route to a 139-102 victory, while the Amherst women pulled out a 125-108 win despite winning only six of the 13 events.
  • Jeffs Open Season with Impressive Showing at Colby

    The Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened their 2009-10 seasons with impressive wins at Colby College (Women: 178-95; Men: 173-86). The Lord Jeffs will have little time to rest before heading to Wesleyan University for a 5 p.m. dual meet on Monday, Nov. 23.
  • Jeffs in Search of Sixth-Straight Top-5 Finish at Nationals

    Amherst got off to a 5-0 start last year before falling to archrival Williams College to mark the Lord Jeffs’ first dual meet loss since the 2005-06 season. Amherst would finish at 7-1 after setting three pool records against Union and wrapping up the dual meet season with a win over Springfield. The Lord Jeffs finished as the runner-up at the NESCAC Championships for a fourth time, winning four titles throughout the weekend to place well ahead of third-place Tufts. Amherst followed up with a fifth-place showing at the national championships, winning two individual titles to mark its fifth consecutive top-five finish. Six Lord Jeff women were named CSCAA All-Americans for maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA and qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
  • Amherst Teams to Participate in "Hour of Power"

    It is nearly impossible to find anyone whose life has not been affected by cancer, whether it is through a friend, family member or teammate. Members of the Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have found one more way to fight back: the fourth annual Ted Mullin “Leave it in the Pool” Hour of Power Relay for Pediatric Sarcoma Research. The event is sponsored by the Carleton College swimming and diving teams and is set for Tuesday, Nov. 10.
