  • Amherst Swim Teams Each Pick Up Wins at Colby College

    The Amherst College swimming and diving teams each picked up convincing wins in their season opening meets at Colby College this afternoon. The women won by a 143-119 margin, while the men registered a 141-102 result.
  • Mother and Daughter Find Common Ground Atop Podiums

    Amherst College junior Brittany Sasser returned home last weekend after exams to unwind for the summer. Brittany finished her third year at Amherst this week, and wrapped up her third season as a leader on the women’s swim team. She helped the Lord Jeffs to a second place finish at the NCAA Championships in March by winning two individual National Championships and a third as part of a relay team.
  • Sasser Once Again Named Finalist for Division III Athlete of the Year

    Amherst College senior Brittany Sasser (Belmont, MA) is being recognized on the national level for her incredible 2007-08 campaign with the swimming and diving team. The Collegiate Women Sports Awards Program has once again named Sasser one of 11 nominees for the Division III Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year honor, which is to be presented June 23 at Columbia University in New York City.
  • Amherst Earns Runner-up Finish at NCAA Championships for Second Straight Year

    Amherst College took home second place at the 27th Annual NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships thanks to six championship meet records and strong performances across the board. The Lord Jeffs racked up 341 points and trailed only 22-time national champion Kenyon College at the end of the weekend, earning a runner-up finish for the second consecutive year. The national championships were hosted by the College of Wooster in the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
  • First-Year Kendra Stern Named National Swimmer of the Week

    CollegeSwimming.Com named Amherst first-year Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) the National Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season for her performance at the 2008 NESCAC Championship last Saturday. Stern and senior Brittany Sasser (Belmont, MA) have combined to win the honor three times during the 2007-08 season.
  • Seven Amherst Swimmers Earn All-NESCAC Recognition

    The 2007-08 Women’s Swimming and Diving All-NESCAC Team was announced today, with the top three finishers in each event at the 2008 NESCAC Championship receiving All-Conference recognition. Seven members of the Amherst College squad combined to earn 27 All-NESCAC nods, as the Lord Jeffs came away with nine first-place finishes at the meet.

    The Amherst College women’s swimming and diving team entered the 2008 NESCAC Championships having just completed a perfect 8-0 regular season, but the Lord Jeffs could not compete with the depth of rival Williams College, as the seven-time defending champion Ephs once again took home first place, finishing ahead of second-place Middlebury and third-place Amherst. Amherst first-year Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) was named the Swimmer of the Meet, while senior Brittany Sasser (Belmont, MA) was one of two swimmers to earn the Four-Year Swimmer High-Point Award.
  • Lord Jeff Swimming Snags Wins Against Springfield

    After a stirring ceremony to honor all 13 of the team’s graduating seniors, the Amherst College men's and women's swimming and diving teams both picked up wins over Springfield College at home in their final dual meets of the season. The women won 132-103 while the men topped the Pride 129.5-105.5.
  • Kendra Stern Earns NESCAC Swimming and Diving and SwimmingWorldMagazine.com Honors

    Just four days after the NESCAC named Amherst College first-year Kendra Stern (Albuquerque, NM) the Women’s Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week for her strong performance at Union College, SwimmingWorldMagazine.com handed Stern a national swimmer of the week award. Stern and the Lord Jeff women are a perfect 6-0 this season, and will return to action Saturday, Feb. 2 at MIT.
  • Amherst Teams Earn Convincing Wins at Union

    The Amherst College swimming and diving teams each cruised to victory at Union College, with the men picking up a 147-94 win and the women coming out on top with a 142.5-97.5 score. First-year Kendra Stern and junior Kai Robinson each earned a pair of individual victories for the Lord Jeffs.

    The Amherst College men's and women's swimming and diving teams split a pair of wins with NESCAC and Little Three archrival Williams College this afternoon at home. The Amherst women improved to 5-0 with a 152.5-147.5 win, while the Lord Jeff men dropped their first result of the year with a 144-97 defeat.
  • Brittany Sasser Named National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week, NESCAC Performer of the Week

    CollegeSwimming.com announced the recipients of National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week honors based on performances from Dec. 31, 2007 to Jan. 6, 2008, with a male and female from each of Divisions I, II and III receiving the honor. Amherst College senior Brittany Sasser (Belmont, MA) represents the Division III females after her stellar performance at Hamilton College last week. In addition, Sasser was named the NESCAC Performer of the Week for an outstanding showing in Amherst's win over Williams College this past Saturday.

    The Amherst College men's and women's swimming and diving teams each picked up convincing wins over visiting Middlebury College Saturday December 1st at Pratt Pool. The men's team won 193-98, while the women took a 169-129 victory.

    The Amherst College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams started their seasons off with strong wins against NESCAC foe Colby College. The women took thirteen of their sixteen events on their way to a 143-119 win while the men swept all sixteen to clinch their 141-102 win.
