CSA PREVIEW: No. 17 Women's Squash Sets Sights on Fifth Walker Cup Crown

AMHERST, Mass. – In search of the program's fifth Walker Cup crown, and first since 2017, the No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team is set to head to the 2020 College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championships hosted by Yale University and Hopkins School in New Haven, Conn. this weekend, Friday-Sunday, February 21-23.


Garnering the top-seed in the Walker Cup (C Division), Amherst will kick things off this Friday at 10:00AM with a Quarterfinals matchup against No. 8 seed and NESCAC foe Hamilton College. 

The Mammoths, owning an 11-6 overall ledger, will start off tournament play looking to get back in the win column after taking fourth overall at the NESCAC Championships two weekends ago. Ranked 24th in the nation, the Continentals (8-9) make the trip to Yale earning wins in three of their last four matches after downing Connecticut College, 5-4, in a NESCAC consolation round bout on Feb. 8.

Friday will the be second time the sides have battled this winter, with Amherst previously sweeping Hamilton, 9-0, at the Davenport Squash Courts on January 25 during the Pioneer Valley Invitational.

The winner of the Mammoths' and Continentals' Quarterfinals match will advance to the Semifinals (Feb. 22, 9:30AM) and face the winner of No. 21 and fifth-seeded Bowdoin College (8-10) and No. 20 and fourth-seeded Wesleyan University (12-8).
