AMHERST, Mass. – In their second win on the 2019-20 campaign, Amherst women's squash moved past St. Lawrence in a 9-0 rout on Friday night at Davenport Squash Center.
With the win, Amherst improves to 2-0 on the season and will await the spring slate for their next competition. The Saints drop their fourth game on the season, moving to 0-4.
Amherst records their second-straight shutout, getting things started at the top of the ladder where Daksha Pathak '23 notched her second career win in purple and white with an 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 triumph at #1.
Lauren Weil '23 followed alongside Pathak, holding opponent Katherine Leiva to no more than six points in each set (11-2, 11-6, 11-2) at #3. Lily Soroko '22 rounded out the top three spots after downing Makyla Kelley 11-9, 11-5, 11-3 at #2.
Rounding out the scoring and capping off the Mammoths shutout of St. Lawrence, Katie Parker '23 came out strong against Arelis Arellano in the opening two sets, winning both 11-2 before securing the third set by an 11-7 margin.
The Mammoths will take on Ivy League, Yale, in their next outing in the New Year on January 7th, 2020. The Saints will continue their road trip when they travel to Middletown, Connecticut to take on Wesleyan tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
