Women’s Squash Concludes Season at CSA Individual Nationals

Providence, R.I. – The Amherst women's squash team sent student-athletes Lilly Soroko '22 and Keeley Osborn '22 to compete in the CSA Individual Nationals over the weekend in Providence, Rhode Island where the Mammoths fell in their opening matches in the main draw and consolation brackets to conclude their 2018-19 campaign.

Soroko was placed seventh in the Holleran West bracket, opening her individual appearance against Harvard's Sophie Mehta. Soroko was blanked in the opening set (11-0) against the Ivy League foe before posting six points in the second. However, Mehta controlled the match to sweep the Mammoths 11-0, 11-6, 11-1 in the main draw.

Soroko entered the consolation bracket where she dropped her opening match against Cornell's Lily Zelov by an 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 margin. Soroko concludes her rookie campaign with 10 wins on the year.

In the South bracket, Osborn opened nationals facing Columbia's Nicole Kendall where she was halted in the opening three sets (11-4, 11-5, 11-2). Osborn proceeded to the consolation bracket where she met Virginia's Mandy Haywood, falling 11-3, 11-8, 11-7. Osborn finalized her season with nine wins, eight of which came at the five spot.

The Mammoths marked seventy six total matches won in 2018-19 for a record of 8-11 overall. Pierson Klein '20 led the Purple & White with eleven wins coming from number six and seven.
