AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst women's squash swept the first three sets in all matches, taking down Northeastern University by a score of 9-0 on Saturday afternoon at Davenport Squash Courts.
Rachel Ang '19 started for the Mammoths in the first spot, taking on Isabelle Quarrier and winning 11-3, 11-0, 11-3. Caroline Conway '20 defeated Sophie Langlois (11-3, 11-1, 11-2) in the second spot with Riddhi Sampat securing her victory against Belkis Montas by a score of 11-9, 11-9, 11-1.
First-year Lilly Soroko '22 marked her first victory of her collegiate career when she posted a dominant 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 result over Molly Bair in the fourth spot.
Margaret Werner '21, Pierson Klein '20 and Ashira Mawji secured the sixth, seventh and eighth spots, halting Huskies Isabelle Schlehr, Jennifer Jin and Eva King to fewer than two points in all but one set. Emma Crowe '19 and Catherine Burkhart '21 round out the win for the Mammoths in the ninth and tenth spot, defeating Samantha Yoon (11-1, 11-0, 11-1) and Vivian Lee (11-0, 11-3, 11-1).
The Mammoths improve off of last night's loss to Princeton, bringing their record back to even at 1-1. Northeastern returns to action when they take on Mount Holyoke College. Amherst is scheduled to face Yale, in the New Year, on January 7th.
