Seniors Lead the Way to Sweep of Lyons

AMHERST, Mass. -- The Amherst College women's squash team celebrated their senior tri-captains on Thursday evening before a 9-0 victory over Mount Holyoke College in their final regular season home game of the season.

Kimberly Krayacich, Mae Cromwell and Haley McAtee were honored by Coach Peter Robson and their teammates, then Krayacich and McAtee took victories at the top two spots to help #16 Amherst improve to 11-6.

Krayacich defeated Brandy Williamson, rallying after dropping the first set 12-14, 11-3, 14-12, 11-7.

McAtee also took a four-set victory, beating junior Ragini Ghose 11-4, 4-11, 11-6, 11-9.

From four, Mammoth's Caroline Conway '20 bested Lyon's first year Jennifer Mbah 11-6, 11-1, 11-3, while Katy Sabina Correia '20 gave Amherst a 3-0 advantage with an 11-2, 11-4, 11-2 win at six against MHC's Kuzivakwashe Madungwe. At the eighth spot in the ladder, Pierson Klein '20 defeated Lyons' first year Emma Robson, 11-1, 11-0, 11-4.

Rachael Ang '19 defeated senior Emily Chang, 11-7, 11-9, 11-3, while Maddy Chen '21 made it 7-0 from five, defeating junior Lessly Portillo 11-5, 11-3, 11-2. The match wrapped up with wins from Margaret Werner '21 at the seven (11-1, 11-6, 11-3) and Emma Crowe '19 at the nine to complete the 9-0 victory.

Mount Holyoke returns to action on Saturday when it travels to William Smith College for a 1:00 pm match while Amherst will compete at the CSA Women's Team Championship at Harvard University.
