Women’s Squash Continues to Roll with Spotless Saturday

AMHERST, Mass.- The Amherst College women's squash team continued their undefeated start to the 2017-18 season by grabbing wins against Connecticut College and Northeastern University on Saturday. Both ends of this home round robin at Davenport Courts ended in 9-0 wins for the Mammoths.

Against Connecticut College:

Nine of the ten matches ended in sweep victories for the Mammoths.

Riddhi Sampat got the team off on the right foot by battling to a five-set win at first singles - 5-11, 11-2, 11-6, 8-11, and 11-8.

Madison Chen '21 swept fourth singles 11-1, 11-0, and 11-1. Pierson Klein '20 won sixth singles 11-2, 11-4, and 11-3. Katy Correia '20 won at number eight singles 11-2, 11-2, and 11-1.


Against Northeastern University:

All ten matches resulted in sweep victories for the Mammoths. Rachael Ang '19 won second singles 11-0, 11-2, and 11-5. Margaret Werner '21 won singles 11-0, 11-1, and 11-3. 

Correia won again, this time without giving away a point, 11-0, and Jenna Finkelstein won 11-1, 11-0, and 11-0. Ashira Mawji finished off the day with an 11-1, 11-1, and 11-2 victory.


The Mammoths will take the rest of the month off and will return to action on January 7th when they host Yale at 11:00 AM.
