PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 18 Amherst College women's squash team advanced to the College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Team Walker Cup (C Division) final after dispatching William Smith College, 8-1 in semifinal action Saturday morning at the Jadwin Squash Courts on the campus of Princeton University.
With the win, Amherst improves to 12-7 overall, while William Smith moves to 14-7 on the season. The Purple & White have now advanced to their fourth consecutive Walker Cup final and seek their third title in the last four years.
Amherst will take on No. 17 Franklin & Marshall College at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26. The Purple & White were edged, 5-4 by the Diplomats during Pioneer Valley Invitational action earlier this month.
William Smith picked up its lone win on court one as Gabrielle Fraser edged Amherst's Kimberly Krayacich '18, 3-2 (11-2, 11-2, 8-11, 7-11, 11-9). Rachael Ang '19 and Katy Sabina Correia '20 each picked up 3-1 wins on courts two and six respectively, while the Purple & White earned sweeps on courts three, four, five, seven, eight and nine. Priya Sinha '19, Caroline Conway '20, Haley McAtee '18, Jenna Finkelstein '20, Mae Cromwell '18, and Jenni Bown '20 each registered straight set sweeps to help Amherst secure its spot in tomorrow's title contest.
