PRINCETON, N.J. - The No. 18 Amherst College women's squash team advanced past No. 23 St. Lawrence University with a 7-2 in Friday afternoon's College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Team Championship Walker Cup (C Division) Quarterfinal contest at the Jadwin Squash Courts on the campus of Princeton University.
With the win, Amherst improves to 11-7 overall and will take on No. 22 William Smith College in semifinal action Saturday, Feb. 25 at 9 a.m. William Smith defeated No. 19 Bowdoin College, 5-4 in quarterfinal action.
Amherst registered five sweeps against St. Lawrence, as Haley McAtee '18, Katy Sabina Correia '20, Jenna Finkelstein '20, Mae Cromwell '18 and Jenni Bown '20 posted 3-0 wins from courts five through nine respectively.
Caroline Conway '20 added a 3-1 (11-5, 8-11, 11-2, 11-5) victory on court four, while Rachael Ang '19 posted an 11-5, 7-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-7 win on court two to cement the victory for the Purple & White.
The Saints picked up their lone victories on courts one and three. Izzy Derber '17 added a 3-0 (11-7, 11-4, 11-8) win from the 10th position in exhibition for Amherst.
