AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 17 Amherst women's squash team split with No. 23 Wesleyan University, and No. 11 Williams College in Saturday afternoon's Little III Championship at the Davenport Squash Courts.
Amherst defeated Wesleyan, 8-1, before falling to Williams, 9-0. The Purple & White return to action when they host the NESCAC Championships Friday-Sunday, Feb. 3-5 at the Davenport Squash Courts.
Against Wesleyan, Amherst was victorious on courts two through nine, as well as exhibition court 10. The Purple & White received sweeps from Rachael Ang '19, Priya Sinha '19, Haley McAtee '18, Caroline Conway '20, Jenna Finkelstein '20, and Mae Cromwell '18 on courts two, three, four, five, seven, and nine. Emma Crowe '19 also won in straight sets on court 10. Katy Sabina Correia '20 and Jenni Bown added four-frame wins on courts six and eight.
In its 9-0 loss to Williams, the Ephs secured straight-set sweeps from courts one through four, eight and nine. Correia fell in four sets (11-3, 7-11, 11-4, 11-1) on court six, Finkelstein fell in four on court seven (11-6, 11-4, 9-11, 11-9), while Crowe lost (11-8, 11-4, 3-11, 11-7) in exhibition. Conway suffered a five-set defeat on court five playing to a score of 11-6, 12-10, 3-11, 11-13, 11-6.
