No. 17 Women’s Squash Splits With No. 16 Bates, No. 26 Colby

AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team earned a split with No. 16 Bates College and No. 26 Colby College to wrap up action during the Pioneer Valley Invitational Sunday afternoon at the Davenport Squash Courts.

With the split, Amherst improves to 5-5 overall. The Purple & White fell to Bates, 8-1, and defeated Colby, 9-0.

In Amherst's 8-1 loss to Bates, Jenna Finkelstein '20 notched the host's lone win of the contest, 11-5, 11-6, 11-3. Mae Cromwell '18 added a win on the exhibition 10th court, 11-5, 11-1, 11-6.

Caroline Conway '20 held a two-set lead on court five (11-6, 11-3), but Charlotte Cabot won the next three sets, 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 to earn the victory. On court nine, Emma Crowe '19 battled back from two set down (11-7, 11-8) and won the next two frames, 11-3, 11-5, but fell to Molly Brooks, 12-10 in the deciding fifth stanza.

Rachael Ang '19 lost in four sets on court two, 11-4, 6-11, 11-3, 11-7, while Bates earned sweeps on courts one, three, four, and six to complete the win.

Against Colby, Amherst swept courts two through nine, and Kimberly Krayacich '18 won a five-set thriller, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7 on court one. Mae Cromwell '18 added a default win on court 10 in exhibition.
