No. 17 Women's Squash Splits with William Smith, Brown

AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team fell to No. 10 Brown University, 7-2, and earned a 9-0 sweep of No. 25 William Smith College Friday at the Davenport Squash Courts.

With the split, Amherst improves to 3-3 on the season and will return to action tomorrow during the Pioneer Valley Invitational when it hosts No. 23 Hamilton College at 12 p.m.

In non-invitational action against Brown, Amherst's two victories came on court seven as Jenna Finkelstein '20 posted a thrilling, five-set victory (6-11, 12-10, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8). Emma Crowe '19 added a five-set triumph of her own on court nine, defeating her opponent, 11-8, 2-11, 11-8, 11-13, 14-12. In exhibition play, Mae Cromwell '18 knocked off her opponent, 8-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-6.

Brown swept courts one, three, four, five, six, and eight, while Rachael Ang '19 fell in four sets on court two, 11-4, 11-7, 10-12, 11-5.

In the Pioneer Valley Invitational contest against William Smith, the Purple & White swept courts two, three, four, five, six, seven and eight. Kim Krayacich '18 and Crowe each earned four-set wins on courts one and nine respectively, while Cromwell picked up another win from the exhibition court.
