No. 17 Women's Squash Falls to No. 6 Yale, 9-0

AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team suffered its first setback of the 2016-17 campaign after falling to No. 6 Yale University, 9-0 Monday afternoon at the Davenport Squash Courts.

With the loss, Amherst moves to 1-1 on the season, while Yale improves to 4-0 overall. The Purple & White return to action Wednesday, Jan. 11 when they host No. 15 Middlebury College at 4:30 p.m. at the Davenport Squash Courts.

Despite being swept on all nine courts, Amherst received stellar efforts in all nine contests. Kimberly Krayacich '18 fell 11-6, 11-4, 11-4 on court one, while Rachael Ang '19 lost 11-1, 11-3, 11-5 on court two. In the third position, Caroline Conway '20 was bested 11-3, 11-1, 11-2, while Priya Sinha '19 fell 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 on the fourth court.

Haley McAtee '18 was edged 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 in the fifth position, Katy Sabina Correia '20 lost, 11-6, 11-3, 11-4  from the sixth position, and Jenna Finkelstein '20 fell, 11-5, 11-2, 11-3 on the seventh court. In the eighth slot, Mae Cromwell '18 was bested, 11-3, 11-2, 11-5, while Jenni Bown '20 suffered an 11-2, 11-5, 11-0 defeat on the ninth court.

In non-scoring action, Emma Crowe '19 lost, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6 from the 10th position, while court 11 saw Izzy Derber '17 fall 13-11, 11-8, 11-7.
