AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team earned an 8-1 victory over No. 24 Tufts University Friday afternoon in Walker Cup (C Division) first round action of the 2016 College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Team Championships held a Yale University.

Amherst, which has won a total of three Walker Cups, including back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, advances to the semifinals and will take on the winner of No. 20 Hamilton College and No. 21 Colby College Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS

  • Amherst won eight of nine matches including straight set sweeps from positions two, four, six, seven, eight and nine as Kimberly Krayacich '18, Ericka Robertson '16, Priya Sinha '19, Khushy Aggarwal '16, Corri Johnson '16, and Mae Cromwell '18 powered to 3-0 victories.
  • Haley McAtee '18 won a five-set thriller (11-8, 9-11, 8-11, 11-5, 11-7) erasing a 2-1 deficit to claim the third position win.
  • Taryn Clary '16 added a four-frame win - after falling 11-7 in the first set - rallied to win the next three stanzas by scores of 11-9, 11-5, and 11-6.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Amherst has now registered at least 10 wins for the sixth consecutive season since head coach Peter Robson took the reins of the women's program in 2010-11.
