Women’s Squash Takes Aim at Third Straight Walker Cup Title

AMHERST, Mass. – The No. 17 Amherst College women's squash team will compete in the Walker Cup (C Division) at the 2016 College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Team Championships Friday, Feb. 19 to Sunday, February 21 at Yale University.

Amherst, which has won three Walker Cups including back-to-back championships in 2014 and 2015, opens action this weekend against No. 24 Tufts University at 12 p.m. The Purple & White take the court with an overall mark of 9-5, while the Jumbos stand at 12-7 overall. The winner of Friday's first round match advances to the semifinals Saturday, Feb. 20 at 11:30 a.m.

Amherst and Tufts did not meet during the 2015-16 regular season. The Walker Cup field is comprised of six NESCAC squads including No. 17 Amherst, No. 18 Bowdoin College, No. 19 Bates College, No. 20 Hamilton College, No. 21 Colby College and No. 24 Tufts.

So far in 2015-16, the Purple & White are 4-0 against its league rivals in the field. Amherst earned a 7-2 victory over Hamilton (Jan. 15), a 6-3 win over Colby (Jan. 16), a 7-2 triumph over Bates (Jan. 17) and registered a 6-3 win over Bowdoin (Feb. 6).
