Amherst Defeats Colby, Advance to Walker Cup Finals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 17th-ranked Amherst College women's squash team defeated No. 21 Colby College for the third time this season Saturday, 7-2 in semifinal action at the WCSA National Team Championships, hosted by Harvard University.

The victory moves the Jeffs into the finals of the Walker Cup (C Division) for the second consecutive season as they improve to 12-6 overall on the year. With the loss, the Mules drop to 8-10 this season.

Taryn Clary '16 battled her way back from an early 2-0 deficit to take the match, 3-2 on court No. 6 by scores of 6-11, 4-11, 11-6, 11-2 and 11-7.

Arielle Lehman '15, Khushy Aggarwal '16 and Mae Cromwell '18 claimed wins in four sets from the No. 2, 7 and 9 spots, respectively.

In the middle of the lineup, Haley McAtee '18, Tiana Palmer-Poroner '17 and Ericka Robertson '16 all cruised to 3-0 victories. McAtee won from the No. 3 position, Palmer-Poroner claimed court No. 4 and Robertson earned the win in the No. 5 spot.

The Purple & White return to the court tomorrow, Feb. 15 and will face No. 19 Bowdoin at 9 a.m.
