Jeffs Sweep Northeastern, 9-0

AMHERST, Mass. - The 18th-ranked Amherst College women's squash team earned a 9-0 sweep of No. 40 Northeastern University in its 2014-15 season opener at the Davenport Courts on Saturday afternoon. 

Amherst (1-0) didn't lose a set in its first match of the season. Led by Arielle Lehman '15 from the No. 1 position, the Jeffs featured six returners against the Huskies. Tiana Palmer-Poroner picked a up a 3-0 win from the No. 3 slot; co-captain Taryn Clary '16 added a 3-0 win at the fifth position; Izzy Derber '17 swept aside her opponent at the No.7 position; while Nicole Yang '16 and Caitlin Merrell '17 rounded out the bottom of the lineup with 3-0 victories from the No. 8 and No. 9 positions respectively. 

First-years Kimberly Krayacich, Haley McAtee, and Mae Cromwell were each victorious in their collegiate debuts. Krayacich won from the No. 2 slot, while McAtee and Cromwell won at the No.4 and No. 6 positions respectively. 

Amherst is back in action at the Division III Individuals on Friday-Sunday, Dec. 5-7.
