Amherst Dealt 9-0 Loss at #11 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Competing in its second road match in as many days, the Amherst College women's squash team suffered a 9-0 loss to Brown University Wednesday afternoon in Providence, R.I.

The Lord Jeffs—15th in the latest College Squash Association national rankings—dropped to 3-5 with their fourth consecutive loss, while the 11th-ranked Bears improved to 5-2.

Amherst's only player to win a game against the Bears was Chandler Lusardi '13 in the number three matchup. Brown's Sarah Crosky won each of the first two games by a score of 11-4, but Lusardi responded by taking the third frame, 11-7. The Amherst junior could not complete the comeback, however, as Crosky earned an 11-3 result in the final game.

The Lord Jeffs have lost each of their past four matches by a 9-0 score, but they will get a chance to rebound as a host of this weekend's Pioneer Valley Invitational. Amherst is a combined 10-1 at the invitational in the past two years, posting a 5-0 mark in 2010 before winning five of six last season.

Amherst will open its weekend with a match against Hamilton College on Friday, Jan. 20 at 5 p.m.
