Lord Jeffs Earn 8-1 Win Over Smith

AMHERST, MA – The 14th-ranked Amherst College women's squash team remained unbeaten on the young season with an 8-1 win over 29th-ranked Smith College Wednesday afternoon at Davenport Courts. Tonight's result marked the seventh consecutive home victory for the Lord Jeffs, who have not lost on their home courts since Jan. 17, 2010.

The Jeffs (2-0) will return to action Saturday, Dec. 11, when they head to MIT for matches against 30th-ranked Northeastern and the host Engineers. The Pioneers (1-10), who have dropped 10 straight since opening the season with a 6-3 win at Northeastern, will break for more than a month before hosting the Pioneer Valley Invitational in mid-January.

Seven of Amherst's eight wins against Smith came in 3-0 fashion, but Caroline Dreyspool '12 (New York, NY) highlighted the night with a 3-2, come-from-behind victory over Elena Plesco  '12 in the No. 9 match. Plesco won the first two games by scores of 11-8 and 11-5, but Dreyspool battled back to win three consecutive games (11-7, 11-5, 11-8) to close out the night. Earning the Pioneers' lone point was Clair Oblamski '12 in the No. 2 matchup.
