Amherst Women's Soccer Places Three On All-NESCAC Squad

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College senior defender Margaret Chute (Pawtucket, RI) and junior midfielder Lesley Pruzansky (Saratoga, CA) were tabbed First-Team Women's Soccer All-NESCAC on Thursday, and rookie forward Stephanie Yesnik (Arlington, VA) took Second-Team plaudits. All three were selected to the All-Conference team for the first time in their careers.

After converting from forward in 2003, Chute has helped make the Jeffs' defense one of the region's most respected and feared. Posting an incredible 23 shutouts in Chute's three-year defensive tenure, Amherst allowed only 0.56 goals per game in the 2004 season, good for 16 th in the country. This season she led a defense that allowed only 10 goals in 14 games and shutout four NESCAC opponents. Chute posted the game-tying goal with less than two minutes remaining in Amherst's early season match-up against Eastern Connecticut State University.

Pruzansky posted seven assists this season, tied for conference second-best, and added a trio of goals to lead the team with 13 points this season. She earned Player of the Week honors on October 23, for leading the Jeffs to NESCAC triumphs over Connecticut College, Wesleyan University and Middlebury College. During the run Pruzansky scored a goal, and assisted on three others, including the game-winner versus the Camels and both goals in Amherst's come-from-behind defeat of the Panthers. With the victories, the Jeffs propelled from sixth to second place in the conference standings for the final week of regular season play.

Yesnik had a breakout rookie campaign this fall, starting 12 games for the Jeffs and finishing tied for team-best in goals (4) and third in points (9). Yesnik began her debut season in style, hammering home Amherst's first goal of the season in their opening contest, a 2-0 win over visiting Trinity College .

Amherst finished 8-3-3 (6-2-1 NESCAC) and tied for first-place in the conference standings, and drew the second-seed in the NESCAC Post-Season Tournament.
