AMHERST, MA – After helping Amherst to a 9-6 record and the program's tenth NESCAC championship berth, women's lacrosse sophomore attack Marta Randall (Monkton, MD) added one more postseason honor to her growing list of accolades, earning IWCLA second-team All-America honors.
Already a first-team IWLCA All-Berkshire Region pick and first-team All-NESCAC selection this season, Randall joins just 48 student-athletes nation-wide with a place on the All-America first, second or third teams. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on Jun. 11, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA.
Randall, who started all 15 of the team's games this year, has helped shoulder much of the Lord Jeffs' offensive burden in 2011, ranking fifth in the league in goals per game (2.53) and free-position scores (10), while finishing 12th in points per contest (2.80). The Monkton, MD native recorded a team-high 42 points on 38 goals and four assists, while registering a .603 shot percentage.
With 11 multi-goal games to her credit, Randall matched a season-high with six goals in a 14-11 win over Middlebury College on Apr. 13. The sophomore also tallied an assist in the victory over the Panthers, amassing a season-best seven points on a .700 shot-on-goal percentage. She also tallied six goals in the season-opener against Tufts University (Mar. 12), while putting away five scores against Oneonta on Mar. 15.
Randall, who has amassed 68 points on 62 goals and six assists in her first two seasons in the Pioneer Valley, also put together a five point, four-goal game against Bowdoin College on Mar. 26, while netting a hat-trick against national power Trinity College on Apr. 29.
