WELLESLEY, MA – The 8th-ranked Amherst College women's lacrosse team rolled past Wheaton College this evening on the campus of Babson College after poor field conditions forced the game to be moved out of Norton, MA. The Lord Jeffs took a 13-0 lead by halftime and never looked back.
The powerhouse duo of senior quad-captain Alyssa Briody (Hopewell, NJ) and sophomore Amy Craig (Denver, CO) combined for 12 points to lead the Jeffs. Craig scored a game-high five goals and dished out an assist, while Briody was the playmaker once again, scoring a lone goal and serving up five helpers.
Amherst also saw great production from a number of other offensive players this evening, as senior quad-captain Lauren Dudley (Baltimore, MD) buried a trio of goals for her first hat trick of the season.
Senior Dana Kuper (Denver, CO), sophomore Caki Guinee (Owings Mills, MD) and first-year Kathleen Scheld (Yorktown Heights, NY) each chipped in a pair of goals. The scores were the first of the season for Guinee, and the first collegiate tallies for the promising young Scheld.
First-year Tyler Tory-Murphy (Sea Cliff, NY) also scored her first collegiate goal today, while first-year goalie Lili Ferguson (Winnetka, IL) made her first career appearance in net for Amherst, playing the final 12 minutes of the game. Junior Linda McEvoy (Rochester, NY) made five saves in net for the Lord Jeffs, playing the first 48 minutes.
Amherst improves to 8-3 on the year and returns to action Saturday, April 21 for a 1 p.m. game at Bowdoin College.
