MIDDLETOWN, CT –The Amherst College women's lacrosse team dominated NESCAC host Wesleyan University in the second half outscoring them four to one on their way to a 6-3 victory over the Cardinals. With the win, Amherst improves to 5-1 and 2-1 in conference play, while Wesleyan drops to 7-3 overall (2-2 NESCAC).
Juniors Alyssa Briody (Hopewell, NJ) and Dana Kuper (Denver, CO) each tallied a pair of goals while junior Lauren Dudley (Baltimore, MD) found the net as well. Rookie Mary Noonan (W. Roxbury, MA) scored a goal and dished out a pair rounding out the scoring for the Jeffs. Amherst dominated in the shot column firing 22 at the Wesleyan net, while the Cardinals only mustered a meager eight shots at the Amherst cage.
Wesleyan's attack was lead by Schuyler Swenson who scored two goals and tallied an assist while Amanda Belichick notched a goal and added an assist in the loss.
Sophomore netminder Linda McEvoy (Rochester, NY) needed only two saves in the win, while Wesleyan's Katie Jones made 11 stops for the Cardinals.
Amherst returns to action Thursday at 4:30 p.m. against visiting NESCAC foe Connecticut College.
