- AMHERST, Massachusetts -- The Amherst College Lady Jeff lacrosse team knows how to score. In their last three games, the Jeffs have scored a total of 58 goals. That is an average of 19.3 goals per game. After disposing of nationally-ranked squads Denison (21-11) and Tufts (19-5), the Jeffs hit their home field this morning and put a lickin' on the visiting Wesleyan University Cardinals. With their uncanny scoring punch, the Jeffs clipped the Cardinals wings from the very start, outmatching Wesleyan in every conceivable way enroute to the decisive win. Amherst outshot Wesleyan 29-11, while defensively, the Jeffs caused 9 more turnovers than the Cardinals.
- The seventh-ranked Jeffs received big scoring efforts from senior Jen Corso (Collingswood, NJ) and junior Katherine Poulin (St. David's, PA), who notched 4 goals apeice. Poulin also picked up an assist. Senior Eliza Meade (Newton, MA) added 3 goals and an assist while team scoring leader Kristen Osborn '01 (Morristown, NJ) tallied her 23rd and 24th goals of the season while also picking up a helper. The win improves Amherst's record to 7-2 while the loss drops the Cardinals mark to 3-6.
