Scheessele, Poulin Score Four in 19-5 Win Over Tufts

Medford, MA -- The visiting Amherst College Lady Jeffs scored 31 seconds into the game and didn't slow down on their way to a 19-5 victory at Tufts in NESCAC women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon.
 
Sophomore Sarah Scheessele (Hudson, OH) led the Amherst attack with four goals, all in the second half, and two assists. Junior Katherine Poulin (St. David's, PA), senior Eliza Meade (Newton, MA) and junior Alie Stechenberg (Longmeadow, MA) each scored twice in the first half as the Jeffs built a 10-2 lead. Poulin finished with four goals.
 
Amherst, ranked ninth in country entering the game, won its second straight and improved to 6-2. Fourteenth ranked Tufts dropped its second straight and fell to .500 (4-4). Sophomore Jessica Thaxton (Wayland, MA) saved six shots in the Amherst net.
