Hired by the Department of Athletics in the fall of 2019, Kimberly Spring is set to enter her first season on the bench for the Amherst women's ice hockey program as an assistant in 2019-2020.
A 2016 graduate of Salve Regina University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Spring comes to the Pioneer Valley with a wealth of playing and coaching experience. Developing her on ice skills at the Kingswood Oxford School before putting on a Gulls' uniform, she was a two-year captain for Salve, notching 14 goals and dishing out 29 helpers in 104 appearances as a versatile player who saw action as both a forward and defender. Well-respected amongst her peers, she garnered the Universal Player, 7th Player and Unsung Hero awards as voted on by her teammates and received the Captains award as chosen by the coaching staff while graduating as a member of the Pell Honors program as a three-time East All-Academic team honoree.
A native of Kensington, Conn., Spring began her coaching career in 2014, and has spent time mentoring players as a coach for both the Eastern Connecticut Hockey Organization and the Newport Whalers Youth Hockey teams.
Off the ice, Spring shows a strong interest in volunteer work, having worked with Our Companions Animal Rescue, the Special Olympics and the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain, Conn.
