HADLEY, Mass. – Propelled by a stellar performance in the final weekend of the league slate, junior forward Kaitlin Hoang of the Amherst College women's ice hockey team has been tabbed the final New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week of the 2019-2020 season after the Mammoths' clinched the program's fourth conference crown.
Netting scores in each of the weekend's matchups to have a hand in three of Amherst's five goals, the Acton, Mass. native dished out an assist on the first score of the day and potted the game-winner midway through the third period in a 3-1 Semifinal victory over No. 2 Colby before notching the first goal of the contest in a 2-1 win against top-seeded Middlebury in the NESCAC Final.
Now with eight goals and 15 helpers this winter, Hoang ranks tied for first on the Mammoths in points with 23 total.
With the victories, the table is set for Hoang and the Mammoths to return to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the seventh time in program history and for the first time since 2016 - with Amherst slated to host No. 7 Norwich University this Wednesday at 7:00PM in a First Round battle at Orr Rink.
