Mazzocca Tabbed NESCAC Player of the Week

NESCAC RELEASE

HADLEY, Mass. – First-year forward Jillian Mazzocca of the Amherst College women's ice hockey team has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week after netting her fifth game-winner of the winter in the Mammoths' 2020 NESCAC Championship Quarterfinal bout.

Leading No. 3 Amherst past No. 6 Connecticut College in the Quarterfinal matchup, Mazzocca caused pandemonium in Orr Rink 1:43 into overtime after a scoreless 60 minutes, with the forward tipping the puck over the glove of the Camels' keeper and into the top right corner to move the Mammoths into the Semifinals for the sixth straight year.

A native of West Hartford, Conn., Mazzocca now leads the Mammoths with 23 points on the winter behind the strength of 11 markers and 12 assists.

Mazzocca and the third-seeded Mammoths return to the ice next Saturday, March 7 at Kenyon Arena when they battle second-seeded Colby College at 4:00PM for a spot in the NESCAC Championship Title game.
