HADLEY, Mass. – Earning the honor for the second straight week, Amherst College women's hockey first-year forward Carley Daly has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week for her performance on the ice over the weekend.
With the accolade, Daly becomes the first-ever Mammoths women's hockey player to clinch back-to-back Player of the Week nods since the awards inception in 2001-02. It is just the fifth time Amherst has earned two consecutive selections, with Alex Toupal '18 and Erin Martin '16 last teaming up to do so in 2015-16.
Having a hand in two of the Mammoths' three goals in a weekend sweep of Wesleyan, Daly dished out the assist on the game-winner before an empty net goal in the third lifted Amherst to a 2-0 win in the first contest of the series. A day later, Daly continued to be dangerous up front, netting the lone score of the day in a 1-0 shut out to extend her point streak to four games.
Sitting atop the Mammoths' leaderboard in goals with nine so far this winter, the Allston, Mass. native has also dished out seven assists to rank tied for first on the team in points (16) and tied for fifth in the conference in points per game (0.84).
Daly and the Mammoths return to action this Friday, Feb. 7 when they travel to Bowdoin College for a 7:00PM NESCAC matchup.
