HADLEY, Mass. – Seniors Jocelyn Hunyadi and Miriam Eickhoff of the Amherst College women's hockey team have each garnered All-NESCAC honors for their efforts on the ice, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
13 student-athletes from seven institutions garnered the annual award, with six forwards, five defenders and two goalkeepers named to the First and Second Teams.
A forward, Hunyadi earns the first All-NESCAC accolade of her career with a spot on the First Team following a standout senior campaign that saw her lead Amherst in points with 21 behind seven goals and 14 assists. Fifth in the NESCAC in points per game (0.84), the Concord Township, Ohio native has tallied 12 of her points in conference games (5G, 7A) and boasts two power play scores, one short-handed goal and two game-winners so far this season.
Earning First Team distinction last winter, Eickhoff picks up her second All-Conference selection in 2018-19 as a Second Team honoree. Leading Amherst defenders in scoring, the Hanover, N.H. native has netted two goals and dished out nine assists to rank sixth on the team in scoring with 11 points. Potting two power play goals and one game-winner, six of her 11 points (1G, 5A) have come in league matchups and she remains the anchor of a defensive unit that has allowed 2.02 goals per game and a penalty kill group that stands at 89.2%.
Amherst, owning a 13-10-2 overall ledger, captured the fifth seed in the conference and is set to battle top-seeded Williams in the NESCAC Semifinals this Saturday at 1 p.m. after advancing past No. 4 Trinity in Quarterfinal play.
