GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Amherst College junior forward Alex Toupal of the women's ice hockey team has been selected to the CCM Division III All-American Second Team East by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA), as recently announced by the organization.

The All-American teams are comprised of two, six student-athlete teams for both the East and West regions, with 24 total players earning the national honor. Including Toupal, four NESCAC student-athletes garnered the accolade, with Carly Watson and Jessica Young of Middlebury joining the New Brighton, Minn. native on the Second Team and Sam Walther of Hamilton picking up a First Team nod.

A 2017 All-NESCAC First Team selection, Toupal netted 19 goals and dished out 11 helpers in 27 appearances to record 30 total points and finish 11th in the country in goals per game (0.70) and 33rd in the nation in points per game (1.11). In addition to notching two game-winning tallies, the junior also found nylon five times on the power play to tie for 27th in the category nationally and potted two shorthanded scores to tie for fourth in the stat in Division III.

Capturing a 14-8-5 overall record and a 6-5-5 mark in league play to earn No. 5 seed in the conference tournament, Toupal helped return Amherst to the NESCAC Finals for the second straight season to close out 2016-17.
