AMHERST, Mass. - Junior defenseman Geneva Lloyd (Calgary, Alberta) added to her list of postseason accolades, earning a spot on the CCM DIII Women's Hockey All-America team.
A second-team All-America East selection a year ago, Lloyd garnered first team recognition in 2011-12, after enjoying another stellar statistical season, finishing second on the team in points (24) on nine goals and 15 assists.
Leading all conference blue liners in points, she has been especially effective on the power play, sitting tied for fourth in the NESCAC in man-up points (12) and tied for second in power play goals (7).
Garnering her third-consecutive first team All-NESCAC selection en route to Player of the Year honors, she started the season red hot, factoring into the scoring in her first five games, notably scoring two goals in the season opener against Hamilton before dishing out a pair of assists in a win over Wesleyan on Dec. 2.
Handing out a season-best three helpers against Oswego on Dec. 10, Lloyd excelled during a weekend set with the NESCAC Tournament's top seed Middlebury earlier this year, racking up three goals and an assist. Registering a point in 15 games in 2011-12, she has notched seven multi-point outings.
Currently just 13 points shy of becoming the seventh player in program history to join the 100-point club, she has amassed 30 goals and 57 assists in 82 career appearances.
On the other end of the ice, Lloyd has played an integral role in a defensive unit that finished its season ranked third nationally in both the penalty kill (90.5) and scoring defense (1.29). Helping the team post eight shutouts on the year, the Lord Jeff defense held its opponents to one goal or less in 17 games.
The CCM Hockey All-America Ice Hockey Teams are sponsored by CCM Hockey and are chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).
