AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College sophomore Courtney Baranek has been named the NESCAC Women's Hockey Player of the Week for scoring two game-winning goals during a weekend sweep of archrival Williams College.

Entering the series with two points on the season, Baranek posted the best weekend of her collegiate career with two goals and an assist against the Ephs. During Friday's 5-1 win she gave the Lord Jeffs a 2-0 lead with a goal 16:46 into the opening period, and she would add an assist on the team's fourth tally of the evening.

Saturday's series finale required some late heroics, as Baranek scored the game's lone goal with only 5:58 remaining in regulation. Her outstanding weekend helped Amherst increase its overall win streak to seven games and its unbeaten streak against the Ephs to 12.

Amherst holds a slim lead in the NESCAC standings with only four games to play. The third-ranked Jeffs have already clinched a home quarterfinal game in the upcoming conference championship, and they will look to stay in the driver's seat when they host Trinity College this weekend in a two-game set.
