Jeffs Tie School Record With 10th Victory, Down SUNY Cortland, 3-1

CORTLAND, NY - The Amherst College women's ice hockey team tied the school record with its 10th win of the season, a 3-1 victory at non-conference foe SUNY Cortland on Sunday. The Jeffs improved to 10-10 overall, equaling the 1997-98 squad that finished 10-12-1. Sophomore Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) had a goal and an assist for Amherst, while first-year Tes Siarnacki (Gardner, MA) dished out two assists.

After a scoreless first period, first-year Meghan Dickoff (Minnetonka, MN) put the Jeffs on the board with a power-play goal at the 10:51-mark of the second frame. Fellow rookie Rachel Simon (West Orange, NJ) doubled Amherst's lead off a feed from junior Sarah Mason (Minneapolis, MN). Cortland senior Leanne Scott prevented the shutout with a power-play goal with just under five minutes left in the second period. Sisti tacked on an insurance goal in the final session as Siarnacki and classmate Alena Harrison (Westwood, MA) found her for her ninth goal of the year.

Amherst first-year goalie Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) tallied 20 saves, while Cortland junior Kelly Fillmore posted 49 saves as the Red Dragons fell to 4-15-1.
