Jeffs Down Colby, 5-1

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst women's hockey team downed visiting NESCAC foe Colby College 5-1 on Friday night. Reigning NESCAC player of the week Renee Sisti (Coventry, CT) and first-year Rachel Simon (West Orange, NJ) each had a goal and 2 assists as the Jeffs improved to 7-6 (4-6 NESCAC), while the White Mules fell to 1-12 (1-7 NESCAC).

Sisti took advantage of an early power play to give the Jeffs a 1-0 lead with her fifth goal in as many games. Amherst senior Ali White (Brookline, MA) doubled the lead off assists from Sisti and sophomore Amanda Mattei (Windsor, CT) just 34 seconds into the second session, and Sisti and Mattei teamed up again at the 5:27-mark to find Simon for a 3-0 lead. Amherst pushed its lead to 4-0 with a power-play goal from first-year Meghan Dickoff (Minnetonka, MN), but Colby junior Heather DeVito (Arlington, MA) prevented the shutout off an assist from sophomore Caitlin Hickey (Waltham, MA) with just over seven minutes left in the second period. Amherst sophomore Leah Kaplan (Buffalo, NY) capped the scoring off feeds from Simon and senior co-captain Tory Serues (Cambridge, MA).

Amherst first-year Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) collected 26 saves, while first-year Alex Harris (Windsor, CT) and junior Lynn Hasday (Rockville Centre, NY) combined for 22 saves for Colby.
