Jeffs Blank SUNY Cortland, 3-0

CORTLAND, NY - The Amherst College women's ice hockey team blanked non-conference host SUNY Cortland on Saturday, 3-0. Senior co-captain Tory Serues (Cambridge, MA), classmate Ali White (Brookline, MA) and sophomore Leah Kaplan (Buffalo, NY) each found the net for the Jeffs, while first-year goalie Lindsay Grabowski (Princeton, NJ) collected 19 saves in her first career shutout.

Kaplan opened the scoring 1:51 into the game with an unassisted tally and Serues followed with her second goal in as many games off assists from junior Alicia Pichard (Chevy Chase, MD) and White at the 5:47-mark. Serues, along with first-year Rachel Simon (West Orange, NJ), returned the favor as White capped the scoring with her team-high 10th goal of the year with two minutes left in the opening frame.

Cortland sophomore Janet Parcell and junior Kelly Fillmore split time in net and collected five and 23 saves, respectively. The Red Dragons placed just 19 shots on goal as they fell to 4-14-1, while Amherst improved to 9-10 on the season.

The two teams square off again Sunday at noon at SUNY Cortland.
